Springville’s Main Street Laster Sundries sported an original 1955 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 for patrons to admire while enjoying ice cream Saturday, June 15. They also hosted local baseball teams.

The Springville Cheerleaders have returned from UCA Cheer Camp with Second Place in the Large Varsity Rally event, first place in Cheer for game day and first place overall.

Springville Elementary Kindergarten Camp will be July 24 – 26 from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Contact SES for more info.

The Springville Farmers Market is open every weekend at its new location adjacent to Big Springs Park.

The library gave special appreciation to the student volunteers for helping with its Summer Reading events.

Springville Library Happenings:

  • The.Springville Public Library will host a Back to School Reading Readiness Review at 10:30 a.m. for two dates on July 25 and July 26.
  • Thomas Train Stations will be at the library on Tuesday, June 26 at 10:30 a.m.
  • Story Time with Ann Dorer will be Wednesday, June 27 at 10:30 a.m.
  • McWane Center will be at the library for  Summer Reading on Thursday,    June 28 at 11 a.m.

Springville Area VBS Round-Up

  • FlowChurch in Ashville will host Once Upon A Time Kid Blitz VBS 2018 on July 11 – 13 with two services each night at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Register at http://www.flow.church
  • July 15-19, CrossKids at Cross Point will host SMASH from 6 – 8:30 p.m. Contact http://www.crosskids.info for more information. SMASH is a fun-filled free week of Bible study, worship, and activities of your child’s choice. This is for all children who will complete 4K-5th grade this school year. Spots for the various activities are limited, so sign your child up soon!

The Springville Preservation Society is now taking reservations for use of the historic “Little House” located adjacent to the Police Department for events or meetings. Rates are $25 for 2 hours, $50 for four hours and $100 per day. Contact Sara Trotter or reservations at 205-467-3000.

The Springville Senior Center offers a Sunrise Walking Group. They meet on Fridays at the bridge at Big Springs Park at 9:30 a.m.

The Springville Senior Center offers Beginner Computer Classes. Classes are every Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Springville Public Library. All seniors are welcome.  Register in the Main Library or call 205-467-2339.

Springville Police Department is presenting a Firearms Safety course which is open to the public. The course includes two hour classroom training and two hours actual training on the firing range by two certified NRA instructors. You may sign up by calling Lauri Jones at 205-467-6133. The next class will be posted soon.

The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work and piloting skills.
