Walking into The Monkey’s Uncle Christmas Shoppe on Parkway Drive in historic downtown Leeds is a magical experience.
Immersed in an eclectic gift-giving wonderland, finding the perfect present is made easier at The Monkey’s Uncle Christmas Shoppe.
Whether you’re looking for Elf on the Shelf, collegiate creations or Old World Christmas ornaments this staple store in Leeds is the place for your holiday shopping.
Nancy Wilson, sister of store co-owner Michael Dyer, has been coming down from Ohio for the past 10 years to help with sales at the Shoppe.
“Leeds is like my town (in Ohio),” said Wilson. “Everyone’s so friendly.”
Keeping Christmas all year long Wilson says she listens to Christmas music and keeps a tree up throughout the year because for her it truly is the most wonderful time of the year.
“I look forward to coming here every year because I love Christmas,” Wilson said.
With price points starting at $4.95 all the way up to $595, the store that’s Christmas crazy has a variety of gifts for the goofiest or most sophisticated of friends.
Wilson says some of her favorite items displayed throughout their shoppe are the Santa, Frosty or Rudolph jiggle ornaments perfectly priced at $24.95 and Creative Co-Op’s crafty wall display made of a doorknob and wooden rails for $44.95.
“Those doorknobs make me want to go home and do some crafts,” Wilson said.
Over the years Wilson has enjoyed visiting not only her brother but, her newly established family with the friends she’s made in Leeds.
Hearing numerous comments throughout the last decade she’s worked at The Monkey’s Uncle Christmas Shoppe Wilson said one word she’s heard a lot is, “Wow!”
“People are often overwhelmed,” Wilson said. “One of the nicest things is when people from out of town say they wish they had a store like this in their town.”
Continuing to keep Christmas cheer in Leeds, the Leeds Arts Council (LAC), just down the street at 8140 Parkway Drive are ensuring their citizens and neighbors have a very Merry Christmas!
Featuring the Christmas classic—A Christmas Carol as their holiday performance, the show will go on starting December 11th at 7 p.m.
The show also runs at 7 p.m. on December 12th and 14th. December 13th’s curtain will be 8 p.m. after the Leeds Christmas parade (which steps off at 7 p.m.).
December 15th will be a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m.
Tickets are only $10 and can be reserved by calling 205-699-1892.
A clever way to spotlight the many benefits LAC has to offer, the council is offering the “Gift of Theatre.”
It contains a one-year membership to the Leeds Arts Council, one ticket to any $10 event, five dollars in concessions cash all packaged in a festive gift bag complete with a card for only $25.
Give the gift of theatre all wrapped up in a pretty package as you celebrate 28 years of presenting the arts with the Leeds Arts Council.
Down Ashville Road and over the bridge into Moody the only full service day spa in St. Clair County—Serenity Day Spa is the perfect present for anyone.
Hair cuts, coloring, manicures, pedicures, facials spray tan, body wraps, body waxing and massages are the best way to say Merry Christmas!
Relaxation and pampering is exactly what Santa needs after a night delivering presents in his sleigh.
Reigning in reindeer and dispersing toys to good little boys and girls is tough for anyone, but especially for that jolly big guy in the red suit.
Packages for a full-on spa day or individual services can be purchased via a gift card or certificate.
Give the gift that keeps on giving—feeling good.
What better way to present your favorite person with a gift that’s all about them or as they say at Serenity Spa & Tanning, “Where it’s All about Me!”
Over the next several weeks we will share the most festive fun places to purchase perfect presents throughout St. Clair County.
It’s important to shop small by supporting local businesses, so why not start in your own backyard by celebrating the most wonderful time of the year.
Putting thought and care into your gift is the most important thing to keep in mind when shopping your way through St. Clair County.
Merry Christmas!
