Pell City High School teacher Judy Walker was recognized as the Teacher of the Month for January. She was sick the previous month and could not attend. She received a certificate and $100 to use in her classrooms.
Walker teaches 11th and 12th grade English and 12th grade Honors Government and Honors Economics. She graduated from PCHS and then moved and taught in different states before returning to Pell City.
“Pell City is home,” Walker said. “I feel like I’m where I’m supposed to be. I love them [students.] I can’t think of anything I’d rather do.”
“We’re excited to have Mrs. Walker,” said PCHS Principal Dr. Tony Dowdy. “She is full of energy and full of ideas. She does a great job connecting with students and her experience has really done well with her working with students.”
Wesley Brooks, Fifth and Sixth grade English Language Arts teacher at Williams Intermediate School (WIS) was also recognized as Teacher of the Month for February.
Brooks has been teaching for five years, four of them at WIS.
“I don’t believe I want to be anywhere else,” said Brooks.
“Wes does a great job!” said WIS Principal Holly Costello. “It’s important to have men working in our middle schools to be a positive role model. He (Brooks) takes on that challenge. We’re glad he decided to stay in Pell City.”
