The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office was in service training last week for CPR /AED certification.
The Pell City Fire Department hosted the certification course. Deputies learned how to recognize common life-threatening emergencies and gained valuable life-saving skills.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is highly effective training and good to have in any situation where there is an emergency. When a person stops breathing, or their heart stops beating effectively, CPR is then applied. This lifesaving technique is used to restore oxygenated blood flow to the vital organs.
Automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable electronic device which automatically diagnoses the pattern of the heart beat and determines whether or not it needs to be shocked in order to beat and pump blood normally again.
“We would like to thank the Pell City Fire Department for spending their time sharing these important life-saving skills with the Sheriff’s Office and look forward to growing and learning together,” said St. Clair County Sheriff Billy Murray.
