St. Clair County History Fair winners honored

Students from elementary and middle schools throughout St. Clair County participated in the St. Clair Historical Society History Fair, creating over 400 projects this year.

“Thank you to the students for your hard work and the parents for your support,” said Carol Waid, St. Clair Historical Society President and History Fair organizer.

This year is Alabama’s Bicentennial, so the St. Clair County Historical Society let  children choose any place in Alabama, not just St. Clair County. Some chose places like the USS Alabama, Vulcan, and the Horton Mill Covered Bridge.

Projects were judged for first, second, third and honorable mention at each school then first place winners competed in the overall winner category. 

Overall winners are: First place Reagan Pruitt from Odenville Intermediate School with her project on the Oak Mountain Tunnel; Second place winner Levi Reneman from Ashville Elementary School with his project on Helen Keller’s childhood home Ivy Green; Third place winner is Ashlyn Sims from Coosa Valley Elementary School with her model of the Rexall Drug Store in Pell City.

Honorable mentions are: Kherington Keith, Addyson Nabors, Jaidyn Anderson, Colin St. John, Nathan Black, and Colt Johnson. 

Winners at Eden Elementary Kherington Keith – first place, Parker DeGaris – second place, , and Jackson Thompson – third place. 

Coosa Valley Elementary school winners are: first place, Ashlyn Sims, second place . Gabriel Vincent, and third place, Abby Trammell.

Honorable Mentions are Savannah Lee, Lexi Williams, Cason Smith, William Rossman, Charis Jordan, Simon Teegen, Madison Gerhardt, and Elizabeth Jones.

Iola Roberts winners are:  first place- Colin St. John, second place- Marie Sophia Kaplan, and third place- Haley Talley.

Honorable mentions are Gracelyn Dawson, Xander Jones, and Madysen Verges.
