Adams-Buggs Funeral Service, Inc. had an official ribbon cutting ceremony on Feb. 8 with the Pell City Chamber of Commerce.

This is the third location for the funeral service, owned by Jared Buggs. Their original location is in Gadsden, and they opened another location in Ashland in March 2018. They purchased the location in Pell City on Cogswell Avenue in September 2018 and opened at the end of November.

“We are truly thankful to move into a new county to bless those in the community and serve them,” said Jared Buggs. “Without God, none of this is possible.”

When Jared Buggs’ grandparents Otis “Boss” and Claudia Crayton Adams, Sr. started the business in the 1950s, funeral services were still segregated.  The business continued to thrive. Buggs’ mother took over the service in 1986 and incorporated her married name, making it Adams-Buggs Funeral Service.

Buggs graduated from mortuary school in 2007, intending to go into the family business but he took a detour into a corporate job. After his grandfather passed away, Buggs spoke with his mother about getting involved with the business.

“The following generation was used to my grandfather being there and doing everything,” Buggs said. “The business was dying, so I asked them to let me take over and make some changes.”

Those changes resulted in growing the business, opening two more locations including the newest one in Pell City.

“We are blessed to continue to grow in the communities we are in now and in the future,” said Buggs.

Adams-Buggs Funeral Service in St. Clair County is located at 1716 Cogswell Avenue, Pell City. For more information, call 205-814-0432 or visit www.adams-buggs.com.
