Parading through town: A Leeds Christmas

Christmas cheer filled the air as the annual Leeds Christmas parade stepped off in style.

With Miss Alabama Chandler Champion as Grand Marshal the parade started with a wave and a smile as Chandler wished residents of her hometown of Leeds a Merry Christmas!
Leeds City Schools were well represented as Leeds Elementary School safety patrol and the jump rope team participated in the parade.
Coach Keith Etheredge, who was recently voted 3A Coach of the Year, and members of the football team rode in the parade, as did the Pride of the Greenwave Marching Band and their director Chip Wise.
Members from World Victory Church in neighboring Moody featured their Rock ‘N’ Roll Christmas float, as 50’s style dancers sock hopped their way down Parkway Drive.
Dogs and horses even got into the spirit of things as a pretty pooch let the air flap her ears on the back of her owners motorcycle.
And one high stepping horse showed what Christmas meant to it as the horse sidestepped to the crowd’s delight.
The Chick-Fil-A cows were on hand making sure parade goers were ready to “Eat More Chicken” as they tossed out warm chicken sandwiches.
Antique cars, Frosty, Rudolph and even Mrs. Claus made sure they were on hand to support the finale of the parade as they big guy himself—Santa Claus soared through historic downtown Leeds on his sleigh.
Tossing candy, beads and wishing a magical holiday season will be had by one and all, Santa closed out the parade saying, “Merry Christmas to all and to all good night.”
