Congratulations to Katie Cone, the 60th Annual Miss Springville who was crowned on March 15.

Congratulations to the first members of the Million Word Readers Club at SES. These students have read over one million words this year.
The Springville Library and SES hosted award winning author, Irene Latham. Thank you Principal Moore for your generosity, every student took home their own signed copy of “Meet Miss Fancy.”

SYA Baseball and Softball will hold Opening Day on April 6 beginning at 9 a.m. with inflatables, Kona Ice and several vendors.
The Springville Preservation Society is hosting The 6th Annual Springville Preservation Society Spring Fashion Show to benefit the Old Rock School Restoration on Tuesday, April 9 at 11 a.m. at Springville First United Methodist Church. The show will feature entertainment, food, and the latest fashions. $20 per ticket. Fun time for all. Only 200 seats available. Call for your tickets at 205-467-6051.

Springville’s Police and Fire Department have teamed up to host an event called “Springville NIght Out” featuring many of the city, county and state’s emergency resources. Bring your family for a first hand preview with live demos of the first responders in our area. Highlights of the day include: Helicopters, S.W.A.T., D.A.R.E, a K-9 Unit, Tow Trucks, Ambulances, a Bomb Squad, emergency situation demos and more.

The Springville Preservation Society is now taking reservations for use of the historic “Little House” located adjacent to the Police Department for events or meetings. Springville Police Department is presenting a Firearms Safety course, which is open to the public. The course includes two hour classroom training and two hours actual training on the firing range by two certified NRA instructors. You may sign up by calling Lauri Jones at 205-467-6133. The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work and piloting skills.
