First Thursdays Leeds

Leeds Historic Downtown is beginning Leeds First Thursday Street Fests on the Parkway,  a family friendly event celebrating local small businesses and highlighting the growing downtown district.

Leeds First Thursday dates are confirmed for early spring and summer on April 4, May 2 and June 6. Festivities will begin at 4 p.m. and continue until 7 p.m.

“This event is a celebration of the rich history of community involvement,” said Sandra McGuire with Leeds Chamber of Commerce. “This is a great way to enjoy the city’s historic downtown charm with activities for the entire family. Leeds would love for you to come downtown to spend time with friends and family while supporting your local community. There will be tons of fun for the entire family to enjoy!”

Local businesses downtown will be open for shopping and special deals. Staples of the community and new shops including Mum & Me Mercantile, Pants Store and LA Salon & Boutique will be open. The Three-Earred Restaurant will be open for dining  and food trucks will be on the street.

Arts and craft vendors, live music and street entertainment, plenty of kids’ activities and a car cruise in are among the activities planned.

“This is a great way to support local retailers, artists and crafters,” said McGuire. “Whether you come to shop or to walk downtown and enjoy the lively atmosphere with your family, this event is worth the trip downtown.”

Porsche night sponsored by Eurasian Auto Services will lead the cruise in on April 4.  There will be a racing Porsche, a vintage 1957 Porsche and many more.  The Corvette Club is scheduled for May 2.  Anyone with a special car or bike is encouraged to participate in the cruise in for all three events.

Live Entertainment, street vendors and kid’s activities are planned for different street corners and side streets each month with the corner of 6th Street and Parkway on April 4, just off the Parkway at the corner of 9th Street and Thornton Avenue on May 2 and the corner of 8th Street and Parkway on June 6.  The cruise ins are planned all along the Parkway between 6th Street and 9th Street.

Leeds First Thursdays are family friendly, community events and many of the activities are completely free.

“ We would love for you to support our small businesses and experience our vibrant and growing downtown for our First Thursday festivities,” said McGuire. “First Thursdays are just a few of many fun, family-oriented events planned for Leeds this year.”

Festivities begin on April 4 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
