Alabama Department of Corrections investigating homicide

SPRINGVILLE. – The Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) is investigating an inmate’s death that happened at the St. Clair Correctional Facility in Springville on Saturday.   

At approximately 3:30 p.m., a fight between two inmates was reported inside a prison housing area.  Correctional officers found Terrance Andrews, 24, unresponsive with multiple stab wounds.  Andrews was taken to the prison’s infirmary where he was pronounced dead at 4:20 p.m. 

Prison officials have identified inmate Cedric Leshawn Davis, 35, as a suspect in Andrews’ death.  Davis is serving a life sentence for a 2006 murder conviction in Baldwin County.  Andrews was serving a 25-year sentence on a 2013 first-degree robbery in Mobile County.  A murder charge against Davis is pending.

The ADOC is investigating the homicide to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal incident.
