Springville’s Homestead Hollow brought its annual Christmas-themed market to town on Nov. 8-10. Families and friends from all across the state traveled to St. Clair to look at all the vendors and fun that Homestead had to offer.
The festival had something for everyone in attendance. Nancy Kelly and Kim Wade from Anniston said that their favorite part of the event was the crafts. And while the crafts do draw in a large crowd, there is a lot more to Homestead Hollow’s events. The festival had a wide variety of food, entertainment and activities for kids.
Many enjoyed the picnic area in front of the stage as they listened to various local singers. Others visited every vendor’s booth looking for the best buys and the best finds. Throughout the day you could find children riding ponies, bouncing on the moonwalk and taking wagon rides around the open field. It seems that everyone who attends wants to come back, and with all that the event has to offer, this is no surprise.
Tracey Truett, a vendor with Dixie Dust Designs said that this was her second year to work at the festival. “I love the atmosphere,” said Truett. “It is just a great place to be.” Truett said that she would definitely be back next year.
Cathy Barker was a new vendor at the festival. She said that her work including scarves, embroidery, quilting and yo-yo animals are a hobby. But she was happy to share this hobby with the people at the festival. She said that she was enjoying her time at Homestead Hollow, and that her favorite part of the event was the kindness of everyone who came out.
Homestead Hollow’s unique festival was a huge success as always. If you missed the fest, there is no need to worry because the spring festival will be coming back in 2014.
