Addressing legal matters discussed in executive session at the last Leeds City Council meeting, city attorney John Brunson said Monday night the city has reached a settlement.
In the lawsuit Keith Hall Properties has against the City of Leeds, the primary grievance was zoning issues.
“The primary judge has agreed we have acceptable terms,” said Brunson. “We are anticipating the judges signature to resolve all of these matters.”
The city has agreed to pay the (undisclosed) amount discussed in executive session.
Mayor David Miller complimented Brunson on his hard work.
“Thank you John,” said Miller. “This is a good settlement and a good end to this problem.”
Other topics discussed:
* Mark Musgrove was appointed to The Zoning Board of Adjustments. Musgrove is taking the seat of JoAnn Boyd whose term recently ended.
“Mark is an excellent individual to fill this seat,” said District 3 councilman Johnny Dutton. “He has experience in construction and real estate and will be a huge asset not only to this board, but also to the city of Leeds.”
* District 4 councilmember Craig Wadsworth was appointed as the council representative for the Parks and Recreation Department.
* George Keating, Parks and Recreation Supervisor, announced that a baseball program is being developed for 13 to 14-year-olds.
“We have a great parks system that does great things,” said Miller.
* Miller recently met with a contractor regarding electricity being hooked up to the press box at the ball fields.
“The press box will be up and running in time for this coming season,” Miller said.
Leeds City Council will meet Monday, February 4 at 6 p.m. at Leeds Civic Center located at 1000 Park Drive.
