Recently Remax Hometown Properties in Cropwell hosted a “New Beginning…New Year, New Name, New Look” luncheon which left local realtors feeling optimistic about the market in 2013.

“I think we’re on the other side of the down market,” said Pell City councilwoman Sharon Thomas, also a realtor with Remax Hometown Properties.

David Como with Home Mortgage of America agrees.

“I’m seeing positive trends,” said Como. “Buyers are looking less at foreclosures and that’s a good thing.”

In his eight years as a realtor, Como says 2012 was one of his best years, ever.

For those considering buying or selling, Dana Ellison with LAH Real Estate, Inc. says don’t wait.

“Watch the Dow Jones,” Ellison said. “When it goes up so will the interest rates.”

For those looking to list properties, these realtors all agree de-cluttering is a must.

“Definitely de-clutter,” said Thomas. “Painting the home in crisp neutral colors also makes it easier to sell.”

“My biggest advice is to get a real estate agent,” Como said. “It’s important to have someone on your side to represent you. Also, don’t be afraid to ask the advice of your agent. Constructive criticism isn’t a bad thing.”

If you’re looking to take part in the real estate industry in another realm, as an agent, Como offers this advice.

“Have a positive outlook,” said Como. “Don’t be afraid to talk to people. It’s all about networking.”
