Cancer can create a “why me” mentality in people, but for Odenville native Lisa Moyers, she’s equipped herself with indestructible bangles of gold and a projectile tiara. Suited in this protection of armor, Lisa has decided to take on a Wonder Woman mindset.
Diagnosed with breast cancer three months ago, Lisa’s friends assembled Team Lisa. Much like the band of superheroes teaming up with Wonder Woman in the Justice League, Team Lisa won’t stop until their friend is cancer free.
Embracing her motto of being “bald, brave and beautiful,” Lisa will receive eight rounds of chemotherapy from now until February.
Overall, she will receive 30 radiation treatments, Monday through Friday for the next six weeks for 3-and-a-half hours at a time and undergo two lumpectomies.
Lisa’s breast cancer was detected while she conducted a self-exam.
Through this whole surreal experience she says there’s one thing she wants people to know.
“If someone tells you cancer doesn’t hurt, it can hurt,” she said. “My cancer hurts.”
As Wonder Woman suited up with her “Lasso of Truth,” Lisa’s conquering cancer with what they say is half the battle—knowledge.
Connecting themselves for a cause, Team Lisa is by her side not only to see her kick cancer but to witness their ultimate goal—to make sure their friend and mother is cancer free.
