Thanks to a generous grant from Rotary International, the Trussville Rotary Daybreak Club was able to fund and distribute dictionaries to local schools, including Paine Elementary, Cahaba Elementary and Magnolia Elementary in Trussville, as well as Restoration Academy in Fairfield.
According to a press release from the Daybreak Club, the project “is about more than just providing books — it’s about empowering students with tools for success.”
One teacher from Restoration Academy said, “I love that the students can actually hold a book to learn from it. There’s just something special about it.”
Proceeds from the club’s fundraising events, including the coordination of a golf tournament for over 30 years, go toward the club’s many projects. Those projects include leadership opportunities for local high school students, lunch for campers and staff at Smile-a-Mile, trees planted at Civitan Park, and more. The Trussville Rotary Daybreak Club meets at First Baptist Church Trussville on Wednesday mornings at 7 a.m.
