What’s Up in Odenville

This week, the Phillips family adopted their foster son, Samuel, after 1,136 days in foster care. Photo courtesy of the Phillips family.

I have determined that the Christmas Season brings out not just the best in people, but sadly, sometimes the worst. For me, personally, I’m at my best – like helping the less fortunate etc. Except when shopping in a crowd or chaos of people, then I’m at my absolute worst because I become impatient, grumpy and sometimes “hangry.”

The point is that the holidays are a time when we should be in a giving spirit. Unfortunately, that is not always the case. For some, it’s a time for being greedy. Especially when it comes to certain popular toy items. I’m seeing a lot of people buying these particular items in bulk and them turning around and selling them for three or four times what they retail for. They then take to social media or online selling sites and hock these items to desperate parents and grandparents everywhere. These people are like sitting ducks. Sure, they don’t have to fall into the money trap, but they do it out of love…and that’s exactly what these predators count on. It’s absolutely shameful in my book.

Let’s get to the news.

The Phillips family just this week became a party of seven! Matt and Jennifer Phillips officially adopted their foster son Samuel (legally now Matthew Samuel Phillips) after 1,136 days in foster care in the Phillips household. Now Mason, Abby, Lovey and Gabbie have a little brother. That’s the best early Christmas present anyone could ask for. Congratulations!

That’s all for this week. Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas!
