BILLY DOUGLAS BLANKENSHIP

CROPWELL – Mr. Billy Douglas Blankship , 82, of Cropwell, AL, passed pleasantly in his sleep at home on February 4, 2016. He was born February 4, 1934 to William and Margaret Blankenship.

A native of Talladega, he lived in Birmingham for 43 years but had lived the past 32 years in Cropwell on Logan Martin Lake. He was a printing paper salesman, having worked for Sloan Paper Co for 20 years and retiring from Mac Paper Co after another 20 years. He was an active member of St. Simon Peter Episcopal Church in the Vestry, as an Usher and later the Building & Grounds Manager.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Janie Blankenship: a sister, Diane Dorrow: sons, Wayne, Alan and Daryl (Donna); and daughters, Hope and Peggy.

A memorial service will be held February 12 at 1:30pm at St. Simon Peter Episcopal Church in Pell City, AL. Reception immediately following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be sent to Lakeside Hospice in Pell City.
