The St. Clair County Fighting Saints continued their perfect 2015 campaign early in this season, thanks to fourth quarter touchdown runs by quarterback Taylor Mickens and running back Anthony Byrd, along with a final defensive stand that stopped Lincoln from grabbing a late win at Odenville last Friday.
Highlights:
The Saints defense shined last Friday, with Johnny Thorton and Justice Carter leading the way with 12 and 11 tackles respectively.
Week 3 Preview: St. Clair Co. @ Springville
Springville gets a much needed home game, but faces its second regional intra-county opponent who is as loaded offensively as the Moody team that scored six touchdowns on the Tigers last week. Springville captain linebacker Kelly Ryan has shown that he can lead a defense to effectively stymie the running attack of their opponents, but Saints quarterback Taylor Mickens has shown time and time again that he is multi-dimensional. Look for the Saints to spread the field with bubble screens to Byrd and Justice Carter to stretch Springville’s defense outside of the hashes.
