After being presented with the proposed 39 features for the Pell City Splash Pad, the Pell City City Council tabled approval on the items pending further review. The decision should not affect the construction timeline.

Plans for a splash pad at Lakeside Park continue to develop within the Pell City City Council.  The project was discussed briefly and carried over during the Council work session on August 10, during which members were provided with more details on the progression of the project.

Upon council approval of the plans, details like colors will be decided by an architect to ensure the palette is complimentary to the supportive structures.

At the meeting, Jason Goodgame, construction manager for the city of Pell City, said, “Everything is ready for the contractors to begin work.”

At this time, the city has fulfilled all of its responsibilities to get the project started, pending their approval.

Splash pad renderings feature 39 pieces that will cycle 10,000 gallons of water through the system.  In addition, pavilions will surround the splash pad, which will be available for parties.

The splash pad itself will have a central feature similar to a playground fixture. Plans presented August 10, show three slides, which all connect to the main structure.  Smaller features, including a water cannon and more fountain-like features, surround the main structure.

Once the matter is discussed again, if it is approved, construction will begin to lay the piping underground and then begin to lay the groundwork, followed by installing the features of the splash pad.  At this time, there is no specific deadline for the construction to be finished, but the City is projecting completion in Spring 2016.
