By the summer of 2015, St. Clair County could have four splash pads up and running.
During its regular meeting on Jan. 12, the Pell City City Council approved to move forward with bid solicitation for the project. According to Jason Goodgame of Goodgame Company, Inc., construction manager for Pell City, the city could solicit bids by the end of January, and the proposed completion date is in May.
When complete, Pell City’s splash pad will feature 10,000 gallons of water cycling through multiple fixtures. And, on the edges of the pad, pavilions will be constructed to host parties.
Currently, St. Clair residents have access to splash pads in the communities of Leeds and Springville. Moody is also building a splash pad, which is scheduled to open in May 2015.
In other business, the Council:
• Approved a petition for annexation of approximately three acres at 1690 Old Coal City Road.
• Approved the purchase of five new vehicles for the Pell City Police Department from low bidder Town & Country at a cost of $138,120.80.
