Moody City Council adopts ordinances

— $5,143 for Moody’s portion of the Municipal Storm Water permit for 2010, through the EPA/ADEM Cahaba River Watershed Program.

— $702 to Ron’s Mobile Truck Repair for repairs to rescue vehicle one. Front crankshaft oil seal was replaced and diagnostic codes were corrected. Budgeted item.

— $450 for replacement manhole covers. According to City Clerk Patsy Beard, the covers have recently been stolen, presumably to be sold as scrap metal. From now on, she said the covers will be welded in place.

—$393 to Terry’s Uniforms for two fire department uniforms. Budgeted item.

—$338 was approved to the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center for Law Enforcement Tactical System usage fees. Budgeted item.

—$251 to Creative Product Sourcing was approved for DARE items. Budgeted item.

— Purchases of $111 for three Taser holsters and $37 for one training pistol were approved for purchase with funds from the special/confiscated funds account.

 — Purchase of a new heating unit for the library was approved. The low bid, from Tri County Heating and Cooling, was $5,685. Work includes a six-ton Carrier gas pack, duct modifications and reconnection of gas piping and electrical wiring.

— $300 to Integrated Media Systems for the repair of the City Hall alarm system.

—A work session was scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Jan. 10 to discuss potential changes to the city’s noise ordinance.

—Two new city ordinances were adopted — One established a rental fee $50, as well as 1 percent of the gross revenue over $3,000 for the rental of real estate without a business license. The other ordinance established a 3 percent ticket or entertainment tax, which will be assessed on bowling alleys, theaters, amusement parks or other businesses of that nature operating within Moody.
