Pell City is encouraging residents to plant and protect trees in 2026 as Mayor Bill Pruitt officially proclaims Feb. 27 as Arbor Day in the community.

To celebrate, the city is partnering with the St. Clair County Soil and Water Conservation District to host a 2026 Tree Giveaway. Residents can head to the Pell City Municipal Complex at 1000 Bruce Etheredge Parkway on Feb. 27 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. to pick up free trees.

In conjunction with the Alabama Forestry Commission, the event highlights the value of trees in reducing erosion, lowering utility costs, and beautifying the community. A variety of species will be available, including Flowering Dogwood, Persimmon, Sassafras, Black Tupelo, White Oak, Southern Crab Apple, and Ginko. A limited supply of native shrubs will also be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
