The city of Leeds and the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated the grand opening of 49th & Magnolia with an official ribbon cutting ceremony Friday, April 11. Leeds Mayor David Miller cut the ribbon alongside store owners Kenneth and Joanie Davis, surrounded by a host of Chamber Board Members, local business professionals, and community supporters.

“I think you’ve chosen a great location, and I believe you’re going to do very well here,” Miller said. “We’re excited to have you. Welcome aboard.”

Located at 1625 Ashville Road, this new retailer offers home décor, furniture and design.

“I’m originally from Irondale, but my family has had a presence in Leeds for a long time,” store owner Joanie Davis said. “My parents moved their trucking business here in 1987, and we relocated in 1991. We’ve lived here ever since. My husband went to school in Leeds and is a lifelong resident. I’m an accountant by trade, but after years in that field, I was ready for a change — and that’s what led me here to open 49th & Magnolia.”

Founded in August 2024, 49th & Magnolia was born from the Davises’ passion for design, quality craftsmanship and sustainable living. Every item in the store is hand-selected for its beauty, functionality and character — ranging from reclaimed wood pieces to plush textiles and statement décor.

“We’re thrilled to have 49th & Magnolia here in Leeds,” said Amy Lee, Executive Director of the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce. “This shop brings a fresh energy and style to our community, and we’re excited to see them thrive.”

Store hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m.–5 p.m.; Friday from 11 a.m.–6 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
