Troy University’s Deidre Payne of Ashville and UAB’s Stephanie Staples of Pell City were recently elected to membership into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Approximately 20,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter.

The Lawson State Community College Dean’s List for Fall 2024 include local students, Daniel Boe of Springville; Zachary Dugger of Pell City; Shawn Nichols of Argo and Andrew Whitmire of Moody.

Dean’s List scholars attained a grade point average of 3.5 consisting of a minimum course load of not fewer than 12 semester hours of college-level courses or above.
