CEPA: Dancing With Our Stars 2025 is now in its 11th year and has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support organizations like the Pell City Police Department, Pell City Fire Department and the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office. Each year, the Pell City Line Dancers, long led by director Doris Munkus, turn their love of dancing into a fundraising effort for all kinds of good things in the community. The date is March 1, and tickets are $30 online at pellcitycepa.com/tickets or $35 at the door.

Sports: Pell City High School FFA participated in the Alabama Youth Swine day 2025 in Dothan. Congratulations to Anna-Brooke DeLoach who came in Fourth Overall Purebred Gilt, Reserve Champion Yorkshire Gilt and Fifth Overall Crossbred Gilt. Congratulations to Harper Gurley who came in Fourth Overall Purebred Barrow, Reserve Champion Berkshire Barrow. Congratulations to Travis Smith for Reserve Champion Berkshire Gilt.

Congratulations to PCHS wrestler, Amy Hurley who is Pell City’s first ever female state qualifier placing 3rd at 126 lbs.

In addition, congratulations to the PCHS Wrestling Team who finished 4th out of 21 teams at sectionals. Individual placers and state qualifiers were Zedic Pabst – 1st (106), Drake Pabst – 1st (157), Malik Watts – 1st (285), Elijah Wilson – 2nd (138), Braydon Tray – 3rd (144), Talen McNutt – 5th (150), Caleb Hovey – 6th (113).

Congratulations to PCHS wrestler Casen Cambron for reaching 100 high school wrestling wins.

Congratulations to four PCHS seniors to signed letters of intent to play softball at the next level: Nyla Treptau (Northwest Florida State), Addy Simmons (Snead State), Olivia Humphreys (Lurleen B. Wallace CC), and Reese Edwards (East Mississippi CC).

PCHS Indoor Track Team placed in the Top of 6A Competition. Congratulations!

Congratulations to one of our own, Tait Nunnally, who was fan voted, ASUN Preseason Player of the Year. Tait graduated from Pell City High School and plays baseball for Eastern Kentucky University.

Congratulations to Victory Christian School’s Austen Lett and Peyton Scott on being selected to the Basketball All Area Tournament Team.

Schools: Local scholarships are now available. You can find information on the student’s Schoology account under local scholarships and on the counseling website at www.pellcitycounseling.weebly.com/local-scholarships.html. Several scholarships available are offered by Coosa Pines Federal Credit Union, DKG, International Society for Key Women Educators, Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative, Delta Kappa Gamma and Pell City Players. More will be added as they become available.

Local: This year, Pell City saw a new spin on an old tradition, as Lights in the Park added a contest to select the best holiday-themed displays. The overall winner of the light display was Woody’s Tree Service: Deck the Halls Award — Most over-the-top use of lighting.
