This is a special column for me. It is the first opportunity to congratulate some of these amazing Ashvillian kids.
High School wrestling bulldog Elijah Dick was named The Union State Bank and 94.1 FM Player of the week. Elijah has an 8-0 record. He was also named captain by his teammates for his overall performance, hard work and leadership skills.
Well done, Elijah, and not just for the award. To be honored by one’s peers may be one of the highest compliments. It is usually they who know us the best.
More kudos to the Ashville High School girls indoor track team. They came in second at the Martin Luther King tournament and brought home silver medals.
With the weather we’ve been facing, May seem even further away than it is. But there are many spring activities that are being planned now. And some of you might need this information as soon as you get it.
The Cozy Nest Rustik Bucket is planning Cheers to Daffodils. They are looking for all kinds of vendors. For more information call 205-504-6144.
The Shoals Creek Valley Improvement Center is hosting a similar event April 12, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. They are also looking for vendors. There is a link on their Facebook page.
Anyone planning a June wedding may want to come to the Bridal Barn this Saturday. It will be an amazing opportunity for a couple to contact so many vendors.
With all this talk of spring, it is easy to get impatient. But there is still much to enjoy about this season. Hot beverages and time home with the family. Maybe we’re just there because it’s too cold to go out. Doesn’t lessen the bonding.
And who knows? We might even get some more snow.
