Congratulations to Michael Wolfe for winning the SMS Spelling Bee competition that lasted 54 rounds Dec. 4.

The Springville Elementary School Spelling Bee winners Dec. 6, were Tanner Mitchell, first place and Sawyer Naramore, runner-up.

Several SMS students were selected for the St. Clair County Superintendent Visual Art Exhibition where their artworks will be on display Dec. 12, at Springville High School from 5-7 p.m. An awards ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. The selected artists are: Connor Copeland, June Chandler, Brooklynn Pazmino, Riley Prichett, Kaylee Newsom, Haley Terry, Micayla Phillips, Abigail Cunningham, Kale Hubbard and Amelia Messer.

The VFW Post 3229 in Springville hosted David Miles’ Father’s WWII memoir, “Led by Love of Country: A Journey Through then WWII Journal of a 12th Regiment Radio Man” at their December meeting. Presenter David Miles met Post member Willie Jones, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan as a member of the 4th Infantry Division, of which his father’s regiment was a part.

The Springville Antique Mall is collecting donations for Christmas Blessings of Alabama by taking new unwrapped toys for local families you can drop off at the store.

The Springville Senior Center will offer an Easter Craft Show on Friday, March 29, 2025, from 8 a.m.-2p.m. at the Senior Center.
