Sports: Congratulations to PCHS Class of 2024, Jayden Young, who will be playing basketball at University of Montevallo.

The Pell City Panthers will play Pelham at home on Aug. 23, at 7 p.m. Come out and support the Panthers! This should be an exciting football season with new head coach, Nick Gentry. The Panthers have also hired new coaches: Mike McCabe (Specialist Coach), Daniel Graham (Director of Football Operations), Jaelin Ross (Strength and Conditioning Coordinator), Drew Parker (Defensive Line), Richard Richardson (Co-Defensive Coordinator) and Bert Biffani (Defensive Coordinator).

School: PCHS Homecoming Dance will be on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 7-11:30 p.m. So glad they changed it from Friday after the homecoming game. This gives those who play football, cheer and otherwise participate in the game a chance to enjoy the dance. It will be at the CEPA, featuring DJ Epic. Attire is semi-formal and sneakers. Tickets on sale soon.

Third Thursday in Historic Downtown Pell City is Aug. 15, at 11 a.m. Come out for specials, sales and fun!

The Pell City Chamber Business Lunch & Learn will be Thursday, Sept 5, at 12 p.m. The cost of the program is free to chamber members and $10 for non-members. Lunch is included. The Jacksonville State University Small Business Development Center, the SBA and the Pell City Chamber of Commerce will offer one-on-one counseling for prospective and existing small business owners at no charge on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Thursday, Aug. 22, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. is the date for the Chamber of Commerce Business Builder Breakfast. Networking for your business, door prizes and special guest speaker. This event is free, but seating is limited and registration is required. Register online at pellcitychamber.com.

A free End of the Summer Bash, Rock N Dock, will be at the Pell City Sports Complex Sept 10, from 5-10 p.m. There will be food trucks, corn hole and live bands. Performing will be Andrew Carpenter, Aslen Weaver and the Southern Crossroads Band and the Coosa Phat Katz.

Also, if you are interested in yoga, the library offers free classes on Wednesday afternoons at 5 p.m.
