Hello everyone. Hope you are staying inside, cool, and dry.
Birthday wishes go out to my sweet sister-in-law, Jackie Thomas, one of my “favorite” sons-in-law, Ricky Adams and his twin brother, Ronny. Also, special birthday wishes to my great-granddaughter, McKiley Doty, daughter of Nick and Emily Vaughan Doty.

Kayla Snow, husband, Beaux, and daughter, Hadley, drove over from Montevallo to visit us this weekend. Kayla is Annette’s daughter and my granddaughter. Also visiting us were our daughters and sisters, Deborah Turner (Palm Coast, Florida) and Laura Adams (Pell City). Deborah celebrated her birthday on July 7 and Kayla celebrated her birthday on July 8. It was a weekend of family fun and fellowship.
Cropwell Baptist Church will have VBS from Sunday, July 14 and Monday, July 15 at 2 p.m. and Wednesday, July 17 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The theme will be Ocean Odyssey.
The state 4-H Competitive Events day was held last month and some PCSS students earned awards for their work. Taking 2nd place in Intermediate Freestyle Demonstration was Kendall Castleberry. Taking 1st place in Intermediate Blocks Rock! was Jace Powell. Congratulations to Kendal and Jace.
Also, last month, Pell City High School’s Maria Sophia Kaplan placed 2nd in Division 1 Painting at the Senior National Beta Club Convention in Savannah, Georgia.
Fall soccer, baseball and softball registration is now open. Register online at pellcity.recdesk.com or at the civic center.
The 7th Annual Miss Motorsports Pageant will be at CEPA on Saturday, July 27 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
Little Miss Alabama will be at the Pell City CEPA on Sunday, July 28 at 11 a.m. This is for ages 0-21-years-old with 12 age divisions. Go to littlemissalabama.com for more information.
The Pell City Cruise-In will be Saturday, July 13, at 5 p.m. at the Pell City Premier Cinema.
The Alabama Back to School Tax Free Weekend will be July 18-21. You can also purchase baby clothes and diapers tax free.
Pell City Bulls on the Lake Rodeo will be July 19-20 at the Pell City Sports Complex. This event supports the Pell City FFA. There will be professional bull riding and bronc riding, mutton busting, food and clothing vendors, activities for the kids and more.
The Pell City Library will present Southern Comfort in a Cast-Iron Skillet on Wednesday, Aug. 7 from 12-1 p.m. Can a Pennsylvania-born Yankee ever learn to make cornbread? Find out in this story of lessons learned in unexpected places. This is a free event and all are welcome.
