Happy 4th of July. Have fun but stay safe.

Thought for today: It’s never too late! Every day is a fresh start. Let go of yesterday and press on into new things. There is always a new beginning with God. (Joyce Meyer)

Special birthday wishes to my daughter, Deborah Turner, who will celebrate her birthday on July 7 and to my granddaughter, Kayla Snow Byrd, who will turn 23 on Monday, July 8. Also, to Kayla’s friend Savannah Tipton, who will also celebrate her 23rd birthday on July 8. My, where does the time go?

Also, three members of the Lee family were born on the 4th of July. Gordon Lee (Pawpaw), Sandy Simpson (Gordon’s daughter) was born on the Fourth, and Tristan Foster (Sandy’s grandson) was also born on July 4, 2012. Birthday wishes go out to the Lee family.

Other July 7 birthday wishes go to Dawn Reed and Larry Mullinax. Happy birthday to Jim Whitlock on the 5th, Robin Muir on the 8th, and to Hayes Waldrop, Carsa Harris, Rebekah Klinner, Kaitlyn Gossett, Olive Dewberry, Gretchen Baker, Kathy Donnan, Abby Hodgens, Cindy Stefaniak, Olivia Dewberry, Mary Honeycutt, Everett Strickland, Carolyn Weems, Sara Beth Whitten, Lee Tuggle, Clyde Tidwell, Marie Manning, Mike Staggs, Camaran Payne Williams and Dana Merrymon. Lots of July birthdays.

Deaths: Dottie Fambrough, Sandra Whalen, Ron Stancil, Roy McCollough, Kristimae Knight, Donna Martin Nicholson, and Bobby Gulledge. Please keep their families in your thoughts and prayers.

It’s hot, hot, hot. But thank goodness, the splash pad is open. Check it out to cool off.

And don’t forget, The Farmer’s Market opened on Wednesday, June 5 for the 2024 market season from 1-5 p.m. in the Lakeside Park (Pell City Civic Center), 2801 Stemley Bridge Road, Pell City.

Pell City always puts on an amazing firework display at the Civic Center beginning around 9 p.m. Whether you come by boat or vehicle, please be careful out there. Also, I understand that there will be fireworks at Clear Creek on July 3, the Civic Center on the Fourth of July, and on the 6th, there will be fireworks at Rivers’ Edge at 9 p.m., and Woods Marina at dark. Woods Marina will also have Carpenettis food truck, lemonade and popcorn. Enjoy them all and be safe.

You can still register your child for fall baseball, soccer and softball until July 30. Register online at pellcity.recdesk.com or visit the civic center.

The Chamber of Commerce invites all to a free (for members) Lunch & Learn, on Thursday, July 11, 12-1 p.m., featuring guest speaker, Austin Noakers, Pell City High School business teacher and Work Based Learning Coordinator. Sponsored by Brightspeed Business. Lunch provided. Register online at pellcitychamber.com. Non-members cost is $10.

The Spotlight Kids Summer Drama Camp will be July 8–20 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Camp costs are $365 per student ($315 per additional student). Included in this cost are a daily snack and drink, camp T-shirt and 2 vouchers to the show. Visit pellcitycepa.com/camp to sign up. The campers will present “Shrek, The Musical Jr.” on July 19 at 6 p.m. and July 20 at 2 p.m.

If you have a need or lack, believe that our Lord Jesus is more than willing and able to provide for you (see Matt 8:2–3).
