This city has so many athletic successes, they are too numerous to mention. But signing day cannot go unrecognized. These are the days the Bulldogs leave the litter. The lessons they learned, the effort they put in, and their accomplishments acquired while pups will serve them the rest of their lives.

Ryan Matthews has been on the Ashville High School track and field team since his sophomore year. During the years, he has distinguished himself many times including breaking records. Now he will run for Gadsden State Community College.

The city of Springville would like to thank the participants in the million mile run. They raised $875 for the children’s hospital. They would also like to thank Ashville for hosting the event.

The city of Ashville is hosting its second Independence Day celebration on July 4 from 6-9 p.m. at the Ashville sports arena. There will be vendors, food trucks, balloon twisting, star shine faces and the fireworks display at 9 p.m.

Any individual or group can register as a vendor. Schools, churches and civic organizations do not have to pay a fee. They do, however, have to register as vendors. They will not be accepting arts and crafts vendors.

Events such as this are an opportunity to stimulate the economy and for people to gather as a community. With children’s entertainment, it provides an opportunity to attend a free event. and there is very little overhead. The vendors pay for their spaces as do the food trucks. All you need is the space, a vendor application and some low to no cost advertising through flyers, word of mouth and social media to raise money for good causes.
