The Springville Police Department is now collecting American flags in need of retirement in the handmade box made by Trail Life Troop AL-242. If your flag has become torn or faded, it can be dropped off at the police department Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and it will be properly retired.
Springville High School journalism students got to visit WVTM 13 News Station to get a behind the scenes tour in Birmingham on April 23.
Springville Elementary students had a party on May 3, for exceeding 4,000 minutes of their reading goal. They read a total of 6,265 minutes in 2 weeks.
The Alabama Fire College and Springville Fire Department completed the Wilderness Search and Rescue Training Course which was led by Scott Watkins at the Big Canoe Creek Nature Preserve on April 26.
Springville Parks and Recreation will hold Summer Bash at Big Springs Park on May 23, starting at 11a.m. to celebrate the close of the school year. There will be free food, free Splash Pad admission, field games and more.

The Springville Preservation Society is taking reservations for use of the historic “Little House” located adjacent to the Police Department for events or meetings. Rates are $40 for two hours; reservations call Paulette Kelly at 205-467-3971.
