Another weekend spring means another time to say goodbye to a graduating athlete.
Ryan Matthews has made a name for himself and his high school career on the soccer and track teams. He was also in the 5K resolution run benefiting Eden career technical center. Now he has signed to run cross country at Gadsden State. Good luck Ryan. The campus may be near, but we know you will go far on your feet and in life.
Dylan Palmer has been selected by the Alabama Prep Baseball Association for this week’s Diamond Note. This sophomore catcher finished his season 8 and 13, he walked six times and stole six bases. Well done, Mr. Palmer. Your contribution certainly helped your team.
The high school baseball team had some challenges this year finishing the season 12-7. But the last game is what will be remembered.
The Bulldogs took down Talladega in an astounding victory. The final score was 24-1. Very impressive, gentleman. Way to shine in the diamond.
Eden Career Technical Center is preparing middle schoolers for high school. From May 28- May 30, the center will be holding a career camp for sixth, seventh and eighth graders. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
The schools programs include culinary, transportation, medical information and technology.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics, all of these fields are projected to grow exponentially during the next decade. This is particularly true of information and technology.
Of course, this is no surprise. We see it all around us. To some, technology is exciting. They cannot wait to see what is coming next. For others, it is a necessary evil. Regardless, it is necessary and cannot be stopped. So we jump on that train, even if only to make sure our kids get a seat on the ride.
