Well, spring break for the Pell City Schools is over. I hope you had a great week.

Birthdays: Special birthday wishes to my youngest daughter, Lisa Dobbs, who lives in Milton, Fla. She will celebrate her birthday on April 13. She is not close by, but is always close in my heart. Also, special birthday wishes to my grandson, Eli Vaughan and to my grandson-in-law, Nick Doty. Happy birthday to others, including Bailey Crump, Dennis Goodgame, Steve Polk, April Donohoo, April Abel, Nick Nixon, Jimmy Cagle, Prissy Patterson Caufield, Susan Cornett Pearson, Andrea Thomas, Barbara Brooks, Connie Millican, Denise Jernigan, Paula Lett, Jason Mitcham, Noelle Amanda Tuck, Gunner Jacob Patterson and Carla Slovensky.

Deaths: Please keep the families of Dwight Blair, Beverly Slovensky, Wanda Garrett Scott, Eugene Hoyle, Janice Oliver, Harold “Shug” Willingham, and Sarah Kimberly in your thoughts and prayers.

School: May 9 is Senior Day. Following senior walk-thru, there will be a Class of 2024 Celebration with lunch, games, t-shirts, and dessert. The cost is $25 and the last day to pay is Tuesday, April 9.

It’s time for seniors to be applying for those college scholarships. There are many listed on the PCHS website. Go to the PCHS Facebook page and check them out.

Summer Driver’s Education Registration (PCHS) will be on Tuesday, April 9. Registration forms are available in the counselor’s office and the cost is $20.

Local: The Pell City Historical Society will once again be sponsoring and presenting the 8th Annual Pell City Downtown Historical Walking Tours on Saturdays, April 6 and 13. Tour times are 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. All tours will begin at City Hall, 1905 1st Ave No. Arrive 15 minutes prior to each tour for registration and information.

The Civilian Firearm Safety Class will be Saturday, April 6 at 8 a.m. This will be held at the Sheriff’s Training Center in Ashville and is at no cost. Please call Juana Corbin for information to reserve your seat at 205-594-2140 or email at jcorbin@stclairco.com.

On April 17, the Pell City Library will host Christopher Lang for its Wild and Wonderful Wednesday. Christopher trained in Furniture Conservation at the Smithsonian Institution. The meeting will begin at 12 p.m.

The Pell City Car Show will be on April 20 at Lakeside Park from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Food Trucks will be on site. Funds raised will 100% benefit the PCHS wrestling team.

Need summer care for the kids? It’s time to sign them up for the Boys and Girls Club, ages 6 older up from June 3-Aug. 2. Cost is $400 per first student, $350 for second student and discounts for military, first responders and city employees. Call 205-814-0405 for more information.
