Hello everyone. Well it is that time of year when the weather can’t make up its mind. It’s cold, then warm, then cold, then warm again. Hope it’s not being too bad on your health. Take care, there’s a lot of illnesses out there.

Thought for today: A man’s heart devises its way, but the Lord decides his steps. (Proverbs 16:9)

Birthdays: Special birthday wishes to one of my sweet sister-in-laws, Rachel Thomas; to one of my son-in-laws, Tommy Snow, and to one of my great-granddaughters, Asher Adams. Asher is the daughter of Daniel and Jennifer Adams. Also, happy birthday to Nancy Tomlin, Renee Santiago, Griffin Waldrop, Russ Tipton, Gary Ballard, Addison Lett, Myles Henderson, Jimbo Tollison, David Mullins, Amanda Walker, Charlie Brasher, Jody Jordan, Debbie Beavers, Sam Black, Patsy Smith, Yvonne Bell, Caden Deloach, Brandon Honeycutt and Deanna Lawley.

Anniversaries: Happy anniversary to my daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Mike Turner, who celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on Jan. 22.

Schools: Coosa Pines and AOD Federal Credit Unions are offering local scholarships to seniors. Contact the credit unions for more information.

CEPA: On Feb. 16 at 7 p.m., the WingNuts return to CEPA to present an all-new show, the Classic Rock Cassette Era. Tickets are $25

Local: The 9th Annual Pell City Rotary Father-Daughter dance, Up in the Clouds, will be Saturday, Feb. 3 from 5-9 p.m. at the Pell City High School. Tickets can be purchased at the Pell City Coffee Company, main branch of Metro Banks and on the CEPA website. Cost is $30 per couple ($15 for each additional child), $40 at the door.

Sports: Spring City sports registration has started. Baseball and softball registration will end on Feb. 4, and soccer will end on Feb. 11.

Miscellaneous: Congested? Tip from a nurse at St. Vincent’s Hospital. Drink ginger and lemon hot tea with probiotics (Bigelow has a good one), adding fresh lemon juice and local honey. Lemons contain lots of vitamin C, which is necessary for our immune system. Honey is a superfood, which will help coat and soothe your throat, control a cough, and promote a restful night’s sleep. Drink at least one in the morning and one at bedtime. Also, Eucalyptus essential oil will ease body aches from flu and clear nasal passages. Fennel oil can help as a cough expectorant. Hope this helps. Stay well.

A bell tower located on the campus of the University of Alabama was built to honor university president, George Denny, in the 1920s. But, since 1947, people have visited Denny Chimes to see the handprints of famous athletes who served as team captains for the Crimson Tide, including Joe Namath, Ray Ogden, Kenny Stabler, Mike Shula and many others.

Remember: In your darkest hour, see your Savior coming to you and calming the storm in your life, and fear will lose its hold on you. (Joseph Prince)
