Ashville’s softball team, the Aelite, is looking for some dedicated, ambitious and coachable girls ages 8 and younger. They are a busy team with a lot of practices and a lot of games. The New Year is a time for people to make resolutions. According to Forbes magazine, The two most popular resolutions are to improve physical health and overall mental health. Folks in these parts will soon have the opportunity to do both in a community setting.
The career technical center is holding its aptly named Resolution 5K run on Jan. 20 at 8 a.m. The fee for entering is $50 and you must be registered by 7:30 a.m. the morning of the game.The starting line is at Eden campus on County Road 33 in Ashville. The path is down Road 33 looping at Harper’s Lane with the finish line also at the campus. There will be water at the halfway mark. There will also be a music food drinks and vendors, so you don’t have to run to be part of the fun. All proceeds go to further technical education.
The Americans psychiatric association says pet ownership is good for boosting self-confidence and allaying anxiety. The same is said for participating in arts and crafts. Ashvillians will soon have the opportunity to do both.
The Little Art Tree is hosting a paint your pet class on Jan. 19. They will prepare your canvas and help you choose colors and guide you through the process. For more information call 205-405-5820.
The Little Art Tree will also have something scheduled for the week of Valentine’s Day for couples, but it is too soon to talk about that.
