(Column) All About Ashville

Last week’s column said it is never too early to start giving. Of course this city didn’t need me to tell it that. There are already giving occasions and opportunities on the books.

On Nov. 17 Mount Zion Baptist Church in Ashville is holding a Thanksgiving food giveaway. There are even choices of turkey or ham!

It begins at 1 a.m. and lasts until 1 p.m. You can drive through or pick up. It is one dinner per vehicle while quantities last. The address is 33540 US Highway 3593. They have not asked for donations or volunteers. However, you can call 205-594-7634 if interested in either.

The Greasy Cove General store the Greasy Spoon Kitchen and Old Gallon Store and Restaurant are holding a toy drive. Drop off toys at 1395-66 Gallant Road or 9080 Gallant Road. Enjoy food fun and fellowship while you’re there. For more information, call 256-538-7632 or 256-334-2424.

This time of year many residents in nursing homes are forgotten. To adopt a resident, call Faith Edwards or Naomi Butler at 205-594-5148. All donations must be made by Dec. 15.

On Dec. 9 the city will be holding its annual Ashville’s Christmas on the Square. There will be all the usual fun, food trucks, face painting and more. There will also be craft vendors.

For all you craft vendors, there are still some spaces left. Email AshvilleALEVENTS@gmail.com or call 205-594-4151 for more information. But hurry while the spaces are still there!

How about great week, Ashville. The holiday season is officially in full swing. These weeks are about to get a lot busier!
