If you haven’t thanked a veteran, it is not too late. Veterans Day is Saturday. Schools and government agencies will celebrate on Friday and will be closed. Thank you to all who have served and are serving. God bless you.

Birthdays: Special birthday wishes to my great-granddaughter, Lennox Vaughan who celebrated on Nov. 4, and my grandchildren, Jeremy Adams and Jennifer Adams.

Deaths: Please keep the family of Tamara Adcock Adams who passed away this past week.

Schools: Congratulations to Pell City High School Teacher of the Year, Ronda Beaudoin. and congratulations to Pell City High School teacher, Mr. Patrick, on being selected as the State Farm Teacher of the Month.

Congratulations to Brooke Perry for receiving her American FFA Degree. This is the highest degree that can be bestowed upon an FFA member. This is an accomplishment that less than 1% of the 945,000 National FFA members achieve.

Be careful out there. Construction has begun at Pell City High School. Ground was recently broken to begin constructing the new band hall.

Sports: The PCHS Panthers cross county girls finished 3rd place at sectionals and the boys finished 4th place. Both teams are head for state. Congratulations to both teams.

Basketball season is here. Pell City High School’s basketball teams will play Clay-Chalkville on Thursday, Nov. 16 at home, beginning at 4:15 p.m. We will keep you informed of times closer to the games. Go Panthers! We do have vested interests in PCHS basketball. My grandson, and Annette’s son, Michael Snow, plays on the varsity team.

Local: The Pell City Library and Dr. Doug Phillips presents “Discovering Alabama” on Wednesday, Nov. 15 from 12-1:30 p.m.

Pell City Chamber of Commerce’s Third Thursday will be Nov. 16 beginning at 11 a.m. Come for specials, sales and fun!

At the CEPA, the PCHS Spotlight Theatre will present “The Play that Goes Wrong, High School Edition,” Nov. 16-18 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. Admission is $5 for students and $10 for adults.

The Jacksonville State University Small Business Development Center, the SBA and the Pell City Chamber of Commerce will offer one-on-one counseling for prospective and existing small business owners at no charge on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 9-11 a.m. beginning Nov. 21.
