A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 2:27 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, has claimed the life of a Pell City man.

According to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Jacob S. Hawkins, 27, was killed when the 2004 Chevrolet Malibu he was driving left the roadway, struck a culvert and then a tree, before catching fire.

Hawkins was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred on Florida Road, less than one mile north of Pell City, in St. Clair County.

Nothing further is available as ALEA continues to investigate.
