Birthdays: Special birthday wishes to my great-granddaughter, Sallie Harper Doty, who will celebrate on Sept. 26. She is the daughter of Nick and Emily Vaughan Doty. Her grandparents are Tommy and Barbara Vaughan, better known as Chief and Abuela.

Sports: Pell City High School Fishing Team had a good day on Logan Martin Lake this past weekend. Congratulations to Logan Stewart on his 12th place overall finish with 5.93 pounds.
Congratulations to Pell City High School cross country team in the Early Bird Twilight Tournament. Our guys finished 6th as a team out of 20 teams and our girls finished 7th as a team out of 22 ladies teams. and congratulations to River Richard for his 2nd place finish in the Individual men’s 5K run.
Congratulations to Pell City High School Panther football team and to the Victory Christian Lions who both won their ballgames last Friday night.
Congratulations to Michael Snow and Caleb Groce who were invited to visit the UAB Blazers this past weekend and attend the football game.
Congratulations to Hunter Otwell, Karson Scott and Jamari Johnson who were invited to visit Troy University this past weekend and attend the football game.
Local: The Pell City Chamber of Commerce’s September Historic Downtown Third Thursday begins today (Sept. 21) at 11 a.m. Come out for local business sales, specials and fun.

The 6th Annual God Is Bigger Movement Bass Fishing Tournament will be Saturday, Sept. 23, at Lakeside Park/Sports Complex in Pell City. Tournament registration is now available online at http://www.gibmovement.com.
Majestic Outdoors is currently selling tickets for its October Gunfest 2023! Contact any Majestic Outdoors member for tickets. There will be a daily gun drawing Oct. 1–31 on Facebook Live. Thank you in advance for your donation, this will go towards bettering our youth events so that we can continue “sharing Jesus with youth through the outdoors.”
Miscellaneous: The Pell City Animal Shelter desperately needs dog food, both canned and dry. Its hours are Mon., Tues., Thurs. and Friday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturdays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. You can drop off at 1071 Airport Road during these hours. They will also accept monetary donations.
Only one more week to experience the farmer’s market. The last Wednesday it will be open is Sept. 27, from 1-5 p.m.
