Happy birthday to Vickie Wood, Jason Gilbreath, Ann Mathis Boggs, Dana Blackman, Melody Leggett, Mary Kelley, Gail Drummonds, Coach Jennifer Lee, Teresa Brazier, Caroline Powers, and to my sweet sister-in-law, Jackie Thomas.

Please keep the families of Bennie Mathis, Mary Bynum, Joyce Harding, and Audrey Jones in your thoughts and prayers.

Well, it is about that time again-school registration. First day of school is August 10th. 9th Grade orientation is Aug. 2nd. The times vary according to last names. Returning students were to be registered through the Parent Portal.

Just a note, for the past 2 years, school breakfasts and lunches have been free to all students. That changes this year, and free meals are only for those students who applied and qualified for the free or reduced meals.

Also note, new rules were mailed out to parents of high school students. Please be sure to read and make sure student understands them.

School is about to start, and the Pell City Educational Foundation is offering its 2022 T-Shirt Fundraiser opportunity. The Foundation supports Pell City Schools primarily through educational grants. With support and donations from many local businesses and individuals in the community, the Educational Foundation funds grants to local educators to provide for specific needs. With continued donations, the Foundation provides for our school system and teachers, year after year. You can help by ordering a shirt or just donating if you prefer. Information is on the Pell City School System Facebook page.

Want to support our kids? Did you know you can become part of the Pell City High School Touchdown Club, even if you do not have a student in school? Those whose boys play football are automatically a member, but if you don’t, you can help by becoming a member for just $25. Come be a part of our team. First football game is a home game against Moody on August 19.

Need sheets? The Panther Band of Gold is selling sheets for its fundraiser. Contact any band member for more details.

The Lady Panther Softball Team was recognized by the Board for their outstanding season. They finished in third place overall for the state 6A division. Congratulations! Go Panthers!

Pell City Volleyball had a successful preseason start for the whole program at the 2022 Moody Summer Invitational Tournament. Varsity: 1st place, 8th grade: 2nd place, JV: 1st Place, and 7th Grade: 3rd place.

Pell City Volleyball will be hosting a youth volleyball camp for kids ages 7-12, August 2 & 3, 2022 from 1-4!

Beginning this year, all four PCSS elementary schools will have full-time art and music instruction.

1967 PCHS class having lunch at City Market, Pell City Friday July 29 at 11 a.m., please try to attend if you can.

Berritt Haynes will be performing at Food Truck Friday! August 12 4pm to 9pm at Simmons Park in Oxford. So, grab your lawn chairs or blankets, and come out for some great music, a movie and great food all in one location.

On July 24, 1833, the Cropwell Post Office, first named Coosa, was established. Its name was later changed to Diana. In 1837, the name was changed to Cropwell.
