Summer will not officially begin until June 21st. However, school is out. Many consider the season underway beginning with the long Memorial Day weekend, a holiday often associated with barbeque.

This Saturday, the Masonic Lodge is selling hickory smoked Boston butts from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m.The cost is $35. Use the extra time for family and friends and support one of Ashville’s historic and cherished institutions.

The St. Clair County Cowboy Church is hosting The Big Outdoor Adventure on June 4. Activities include horseback riding, fishing, archery and more. Lunch is also served at this free event. However, spits are limited. Call or text Dale Stubbs 205-905-5743 to reserve a spot.

Stovall Athletics is offering a sports camp for boys and girls ages six to thirteen June 22-24 from 8a.m. to 3p.m. This includes coaching in baseball, softball, basketball and football as well as lunches, a camp t-shirt, camp bag, competitions and awards. The cost is $100. However, scholarships are available. Again, time and spaces are an issue. Register at stovallathletics.com.
