Fairview Baptist Church in Ragland will have their regular first Sunday singing May 1 at 1:30 p.m. “Canaan Land” group of Clanton will be the guest singers. Pastor Wayne Arnold and church family invite everyone.

Popes Chapel Community Church in Wattsville will host National Day of Prayer meeting Thursday, May 5 at 7 p.m. Pastor Jeff Sherrill and church family invite everyone.

Mt. Moriah Baptist Church will have the annual homecoming and the nintety-seventh anniversary celebration on May 15 at 10 a.m.-3 p.m. This is always an all-day event. Dinner will be served at noon. Attendees are asked to bring side dishes, desserts and drinks.

The church will provide the meat and tableware. Debra Perry and “Jaidyn’s Call” group from Dahlonega in Georgia will be the guest singers for both the morning and afternoon services. Mrs. Redena King and Landon King will chair this annual event. Rev. Dwayne Banks is the church pastor. Everyone is invited.

Happy birthday to my great-niece, Shannon Scott, and Jill Smith, who both celebrate May 2!

Congratulations and happy anniversary to my friends, Meighan and Caleb Middlebrooks who will celebrate May 5!

Our prayers and condolences are with the family of Johnny Joe Rowe, 72, formerly of Coal City, who passed away April 13. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Arnold Pike and Mr. “Bud” and Mrs. Florence Gentry. Johnny was a Christian and licensed minister. He was a faithful witness for Christ Jesus. He will be sadly missed by all of us who knew and loved him.
