The Pell City Library has introduced the Read for a Better World winter reading program to last through the end of February. For every book read, participants get an entry into a raffle drawing. Susan Mann, assistant library director, said the program is for all ages, not just kids.
“We’ve got good prizes, it’s all for fun,” said Mann.
Participants can register and log their books online at pellcitylibrary.beanstack.org. Mann also said each age group has its own set of prizes. Readers need to create an account and begin logging the books and hours they’ve spend reading them.
“It encourages people to read and during the cool months of the year, what better if you’re inside and have a good book to read? It makes things better and brightens the time. As a librarian, I just think reading is a great escape, and it takes you places maybe you couldn’t go,” said Mann.
Mann said the library is constantly getting in new books in physical, audio and e-book formats. She said the library is still offering curbside for anyone who is nervous about coming in.
