Ryleigh Freeman has been named as the replacement for Charity Mitcham, long time district coordinator of St. Clair County Soil and Water Conservation District.

“I’m excited to be here, I just moved here, so I’m excited to keep the same traditions we have going and introduce new programs for conservation efforts in 2022,” said Freeman.

Ryleigh recently relocated to Pell City after living most of her life in Calhoun County where she attended Faith Christian High School and Jacksonville State University.

She has previously worked for the Choccolocco Creek Watershed as the Public Relations Manager and as a Media Assistant for the City of Oxford.

“I’ve been around this environment and conservation is very important to me, it’s something I’ve always been passionate about. We have beautiful areas in Alabama, and I definitely want to protect those,” said Freeman.

Freeman said she’s excited most to begin efforts to teach children in the community about natural resources and the beauties of Alabama’s outdoors.

“In St. Clair we push conservation education, so I will be in and out of the schools a lot with different conservation events, the water festival and classroom in the forest. We do a lot of teaching kids conservations efforts and the importance of that,” said Freeman

The office for the St. Clair County Soil and Water Conservation District is located in the Pell City courthouse.

“Anyone is welcome to reach out whenever, we’re always wanting to start new programs about natural resources we have here in St. Clair County.”
