What is everyone doing tomorrow? Because Canoe Creek Marina is having its grand opening. Beginning at 10:30 a.m. and lasting all day, there will be free barbeque, hot dogs, and drinks as long as they last. There will also be give-aways including fishing gear.

Outdoors means out of the house. It also means easy safe social distancing. And free is just the right price. Sounds like a good opportunity for a great time.

Speaking of free entertainment, Ashville Public Library will be closed this weekend while they move to the Senior Center. This is a temporary move while they wait for the new building to get ready. That opening will surely be grand as well.

St. Clair County has so much to offer. From the natural to the intellectual, its resources are innumerable. Chief among them has to be The St. Clair County Extension Office.

They offer classes on Bee Keeping, estate planning and every aspect of food from planting to harvesting to cooking to selling it on the internet. Now, they are offering free Farmer’s Market vouchers to low-income seniors 60 and over. There is a link on Ashville’s Facebook page.

The deadline for early registration for Ashville Parks and Recreation Baseball and Softball ages 5-12 and Cap Ball, ages 3-4 is Feb. 14. After the 14th, the cost is an additional $ 20. For additional information, visit www.cityofashville.org.

Those wishing to register early might want to try to make it by the 13th. Don’t want to take any extra time from Sweethearts day. Restaurants get crowded. And those lines of nervous looking men at flower shops holding their last minute bouquets are awfully long.

The Band Boosters 45th Annual Parade of Roses is March 9. Still a couple of months away. But for some just enough time to start shopping for gowns and walking with a book on their head. Do girls still practice their posture that way?

They should. It is very effective.
