The Springville Tiger High School Basketball Team helped instruct 6U teams in December at their first learning league clinic.

Congratulations to Springville Firefighters Daniel Perry and Matthew Brown for successfully obtaining their Firefighter I/II certification from the Fort Payne Regional Training Center. They have endured a vigorous 10 weeks of training to obtain this certification. Perry and Brown are pictured with Chief Richard Harvey.

Springville area churches close out 2020 with worship and candlelight services during the holiday season. The church of Bradford Road, 1st Baptist Springville and One Eighty Church held worship services on Dec. 27 with extended music services and Faith Community Church had a candlelight service on Christmas Eve and an orchestra.

Due to an increase in Covid-19 cases, all City of Springville offices are temporarily closed to “walk-in,” public interaction. The Springville Fire Department was notified by the Birmingham Regional EMS System “BREMSS” that their personnel and other EMS personnel in the area were able to register for the Coronavirus vaccine. Springville FD Lt. Dennis Putnam was the first to receive the vaccine on Dec. 18 and was told by officials at UAB that he was the first firefighter in the state to receive the vaccine. Other personnel are scheduled to receive their vaccines as well. Lt. Putnam wanted to lead by example in showing the importance of vaccinations.

Congratulations to Springville Anglers Chase and Dakota for getting 6th place and big fish for 5.40lbs at Lake Mitchell on December 12th at the Alabama Bass Federation Junior/High School Qualifying Tournament at Lake Mitchell, Clanton, AL. Final weights were: Chase Parnell/Dakota Chastain 11.78lbs, Brock Bowers/Rocky Jonio 8.23lbs and Joseph Glenn/Chase Cox 5.26lbs.

Springville Library

Due to rising Covid-19 cases, the Springville Public Library and other city offices have temporarily closed all lobbies to in-person visitors.

The library will continue to provide curbside pickup every weekday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Request your items online or by phone 205-467-2339. Unsure what to request? Ask for a mystery bag!

Springville Senior Center

The Springville Senior Center will be closed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic until further notice.

The Senior Center in cooperation with the Alabama Extension will offer free Zoom Tutorial Classes online, December 16th from 10 a.m. until noon. Registration is required at www.aces.edu/go/ZoomSCCMG

Springville Preservation Society

The Springville Preservation Society is taking reservations for use of the historic “Little House” located adjacent to the Police Department for events or meetings.
