While this year did not break last year’s record for the amount of floats, largely due to the restrictions of COVID-19, many were pleased by the creativity centered around the theme “Peace on Earth.”
While Urainah Glidewell, executive director of the Pell City Chamber of Commerce, was pleased with the floats, she was also pleased with the turnout. Due to the pandemic, turnout was expected to be lower than years past.
“I was pleased with the way everything turned out,” Glidewell said.
Those featured in the parade includes the Chamber of Commerce and their snow machine, the Pell City Police and Fire Departments, St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office, St. Clair Cowboy Church, Citizen of the Year Lyle Harmon, multiple businesses and many more.
With COVID-19 making 2020 a tough year for so many, Glidewell previously noted about the importance of having a community event such as this one.
“It has been a tradition in Pell City for so long,” Glidewell said. “This year is always a time for hope.”
It is the hope of Pell City residents that things will be back to normal in time for next year’s parade.
