The Greater Odenville Chamber of Commerce honored the Odenville Police Department at its 2020 Christmas luncheon.

Monday’s luncheon was held at the Christ Church at Branch Cove with 28 in attendance. Chamber Secretary, Paul Perry with Alfa Insurance reported on the recent Odenville car show.

Almost 200 cars, trucks and other vehicles registered for this year’s fundraiser with proceeds going to directly to the Odenville Police Department.

Chamber President, Josh Fincher with ERA King Real Estate, presented a check totaling $19,020.50 to Chief Glenn Walton and Captain Brad Slade. Walton said that the funds would be used for the officer’s personal safety equipment such as personal body protection and high visibility vests.

As well as presenting the check, attendees brought toys to donate to Odenville’s Cops for Tots program. Next year’s car show is already in the planning stages for the proceeds to go to Odenville Fire Department.

The chamber luncheon was catered and served by Chef Jason Mullenix with Magic City Chefs. Worship pastor from Bethel Baptist Church, Jared Mitchell, led the group in singing Christmas carols.

The next chamber of commerce luncheon will be Monday, Jan. 4.
