As almost always, All About Ashville begins with a hearty howl to those biting Bulldogs. Both the girls and the boys varsity basketball teams bested the Ragland Blue Devil’s. The girls’ final score was 53-45. And the boys finished with a nail biting 41-40.

And congratulations to Jordan Thompson who won Mainstreet Pediatrics Dress the Turkey contest. Jordan disguised Tom as Elsa winning the $50 Edgar’s Bakery gift card. Well done, Jordan. And enjoy your goodies!

Recent weather has forced Ashville to cancel some events. But, as of this writing, Ashville still has a full agenda for this weekend. And many do not require weather’s permission.

Dec. 4-6, Smith’s Tomato Farm is hosting A Country Christmas at 4575 Loop Road in Steele, Alabama. There will be over forty arts and crafts vendors as well as food vendors. Admission is $5 for anyone over ten. Anyone under is free. Social distancing practices apply. Also, it’s indoors.

As is previously mentioned Pastries with Santa in Springville beginning Saturday at 7:30 a.m. The turkey shoot at Pinedale Volunteer Fire Department in Ashville is still on every Saturday through Christmas and don’t forget The Christmas Craft Fair at Rhema Worship Center.

Christmas at the Falls had to cancel Nov. 29 due to the weather. But it too is scheduled for every Saturday through Christmas. Noccolula Falls is a beautiful place steeped in history worth a visit even without the Amazing Sam and his balloon twisting. There will also be vendors at the old Grist Mill Road.

Purchase tickets through the link on Ashville’s Facebook page as well as registering for Pastries with Santa. And, while you’re there, browse the many opportunities for giving to the worthy causes this holiday season for various people with various needs.

Buy a toy for a needy child or a necessity for those truly in need. Some will even pick up at your home. Adopt a grandparent. A wish list will be released shortly. Or, for those of you who prefer to stay at home and limit contact, point and click to donate.

But others still prefer to generate revenue the old fashioned way. The Ashville Middle School Girls Basketball Team is having a hot chocolate fundraiser. And they couldn’t have picked a better atmosphere. Come on out to Gargus Market’s 3rd annual Christmas at the Market. Enjoy the event and help our girls become part of Ashville’s amazing athletic tradition.

There will be chili as well as other food. Raffle tickets will be for sale. And other prizes promised. Not to mention the pride in the ride.

Ashville is one city who knows how to put the fun in fundraiser.

It’s just the first weekend in December. There is still an upcoming Christmas parade and much more. But, Ashville has spirit: school spirit, Christmas spirit, and the spirit of giving.
